Idleness...

...and its results. Yesterday my Cutie had to stay home because of stomach pain. But what did he do? He painted me a picture for the 'naked' wall behind my laptop. Sure enough he took the biggest canvas he could find. I like this picture a lot.

Müßiggang...

...und was dabei herauskommt. Gestern blieb mein Kleiner Schatz wegen Bauchweh zu Hause und was hat er gemacht? Er hat mir ein Bild für die kahle Wand hinter dem Laptop gemalt. Natürlich auf dem größten Keilrahmen, der verfügbar war. Ich finde das Gemälde sehr gelungen.

Unfortunately he squeezed so much of the paint off the bottles, that it would have been a shame to dispose of them. So I had to paint a picture out of the rests. With no intention and as much muse this came out:

Leider hatte er so viel Farbe aus den Flaschen herausgedrückt, dass es eine Schande gewesen wäre, die ganzen Farben zu entsorgen. Also mußte ich auch ran und die Reste verbrauchen. Mit null Bock und ebensoviel Muse entstand dann dieses Bild:

I also haven't been in any mood to knit and just finished this sock - at least one foot is cuddly wrapped. But I still don't feel moody enough to knit the second one.

Ich hab auch nicht sehr viel gestrickt und grade mal so diese Socke hier fertiggestellt - jetzt ist schon mal ein Fuß kuschelig verpackt. Aber Lust auf die zweite habe ich trotzdem keine.

Well, in one hour the next clue of MiaBella comes out and I still didn't manage to knit clue 2! Yesterday I made one attempt on clue 2, but had to knit backwards because I lost one yarnover at the beginning of row 57. And of course I found it out in row 59 when I missed it. After that short intermezzo I skipped knitting... So one try later again...

In einer Stunde kommt schon der dritte Hinweis auf MiaBella raus, und ich hab den zweiten noch immer nicht fertig! Gestern habe ich mich drangestürzt, aber durfte dann 2 Reihen wieder rückwärts stricken, weil ich einen Umschlag am Anfang der 57. Reihe verloren hatte. Das ist mir natürlich erst aufgefallen, als mir die entsprechende Masche in der 59. Reihe gefehlt hat. Danach hatte ich keine Lust mehr weiterzustricken. Also später noch einmal ran...

Laundry

This day was for the laundry. Washing it, hang it up, fold it and block it.
Pardon? Blocking laundry?!?
Well, selfknitted Shawls are some kind of laundry, too (that what's coming from ur knitting needles is called fabric as well). And so I bathed and blocked an especially big one today. Of course it was the gigantic Icelandic Lace Shawl which I made in my knitting mood for my mother. Bad luck that I like it as much as she does, but have to give it to mom... At least she is happy.
By the way: only gigantic is the right description for this shawl. Each of these jigsaw mats is 30 x 30 cm big - have fun calculating the size of the shawl.

Der heutige Tag stand ganz im Zeichen der Wäsche. Wäsche waschen, Wäsche aufhängen, Wäsche zusammenlegen und Wäsche spannen.

Mooomeent... Wäsche spannen?!?
Ja. Auch selbstgestrickte Tücher sind Wäsche (das was beim Stricken rauskommt, wird ja auch nicht umsonst Stoff genannt). Und heute habe ich ein besonders großes Exemplar davon gespannt. Es war natürlich das gigantische Isländische Tuch, das ich in meiner Strickwut für meine Mutter gestrickt habe. Dumm nur, dass es mir genausogut gefällt wie ihr und ich es aber hergeben muss... Na jedenfalls freut sich eine über das Tuch.
Übrigens wird nur gigantisch dem Tuch als Beschreibung gerecht. Jede der Puzzlematten ist 30 x 30 cm groß - viel Spaß beim Rechnen!

I also worked today and yesterday only on Thien's sneakers - yesterday morning he forced me to promise him to concentrate on them. Because he managed to forget his sandwiches I had to bring them to his school and talked for over an hour to some other mothers there. When I finally came home I was freezing, coz I had to hurry to get the bus and so didn't wear socks and jacket - I stumbled to the bus station only with my bus pass, the keys and the sandwich box. And so I didn't knit much. Clue 2 of MiaBella also was dropped. So I do it tommorrow morning.

Außerdem hab ich heut und gestern nur an Thien's Söckchen weitergestrickt - er hat mir gestern früh das Versprechen nur an seinen Söckchen weiterzustricken, abgenommen. Weil er aber gestern sein Pausenbrot vergessen hat, mußte ich mit dem nächsten Bus zur Schule hinterher fahren und hab mich prompt mit den Müttern von Thien's Klassenkameraden verquatscht. Wir haben über eine Stunde auf dem Schulhof gestanden und uns über die Leute aus aller Welt unterhalten (eine der Mütter ist Türkin). Als ich dann zuhause ankam, war ich etwas verfroren, weil ich mir natürlich keine Socken und Jacke angezogen hatte und auch nur mit Schlüssel, Fahrkarte und Brotdose bewaffnet hatte, als ich versucht habe den letzten Bus der Stunde zu kriegen. Und deshalb habe ich nicht wirklich viel gestrickt. Hinweis 2 der MiaBella ist damit auch ausgefallen. Na das hol ich dann eben morgen früh nach.

So sieht mein Revontuli grad aus. Deshalb heißt es auch nicht mehr Feuerland-Revontuli sondern Lava-Tuch. Aber schaut selbst:

Today was the Breakfast-Knitting of the Oecher Wollweiber at Jutta's Wolltreffer. There were just 5 women - including me - but we had fun. I continued knitting my Revontuli as Anja did, but I'm far behind her. I wanted to finish the Icelandic Lace Shawl first and so Anja already reached the end of the charts, but the shawl didn't turn out that long, so she will continue until the yarn is over.

Heute war das Frühstücks-Stricken der Oecher Wollweiber bei Jutta im Wolltreffer. Eingetrudelt sind zwar nur 5 Frauen - inklusive meiner Wenigkeit - aber Spaß hatten wir allemal. Ich habe genauso, wie Anja meinen Revontuli weitergestrickt, aber ich hinke ganz schön hinterher - aber ich wollte ja unbedingt erst den Icelandic Lace Shawl fertigstricken und habe Anja daher vorausstricken lassen. Ihr Revontuli ist dem Muster entsprechend schon fast fertig, aber das Knäuel ist noch lange nicht zu Ende. Und so groß fanden wir ihr Tuch nun doch nicht, dass man dann gleich aufhört.

I also started knitting MiaBella this evening and finished off clue 1. Clue 2 will follow on Monday. I actually started knitting with needles 5 mm (size 8) but wasn't satisfied with how it turned out and so I ripped and started with 4.5 mm (size 7).

Ich habe auch schon MiaBella angefangen und Hinweis 1 bereits beendet. Den zweiten werde ich Montag stricken. Angefangen hatte ich mit 5 mm Nadeln, aber irgendwie wollte es nicht wirklich schön aussehen. Also hab ich's wieder aufgerippelt und mit 4,5 mm Nadeln angeschlagen.

I also registered today for knitting fairy tale socks. The April tale: The Frog Prince. The drafts are already finished, but my yarn diet wont work - I need green & yellow yarn and red pearls. I am sure they will be pretty nice - instructions will be posted sometime later ;)

Außerdem hab ich mich heute beim Mächensockenstricken angemeldet. Das Aprilmärchen: Der Froschkönig. Der Entwurf ist bereits fertig und nun wird aus meiner Garndiät irgendwie nix. Ich brauch nämlich grünes und gelbes Garn und rote Perlchen. Ich bin aber sicher, dass meine Froschkönigsocken sehr hübsch werden - Anleitung wird dann auch mal gepostet ;)

The redish one is LaceWool Papaya and the yarn for my MiaBella. The blueish ones are LaceTime Lavendel (lavender) and I thought of making some kind of curtain out of them for my bedroom.

Das rötliche ist LaceWool Papaya und das Garn für meine MiaBella. Die bläulichen Knäule sind LaceTime Lavendel und ich hatte mir überlegt, davon so etwas wie Gardinen für mein Schlafzimmer zu stricken.

Gespanntes

Really much I didn't knit today, but the Icelandic Lace Shawl is done now! (pictures are posted tommorrow.) I actually had stomach pain in the morning which stayed till lunch time. But then I started and knitted while I was doin some housework until the short one returned from school.

Viel gestrickt hab ich heut nicht wirklich, aber der Icelandic Lace Shawl ist fertig! (Bilder lade ich morgen hoch.) Ich hatte Bauchschmerzen am Morgen, die sich leider bis kurz vor Mittag gehalten haben. Aber dann bin ich durchgestartet und hab neben Haushalt eben auch gestrickt, bis der Kurze von der Schule nach Hause gekommen ist.

In addition I did some hand washing along with the normal clothes and pinned some of the knitted pieces to my jigsaw mats. There's the cute lilac doily, which is usually residing on my bedside locker, the test piece of MiaBella, which I made from a rest of Mohair Fein (the yarn I used for LadyJane), my lil tie scarf by Alison Hansel (though it's knitted in garter stitch in her book) and at last MissCrazy by Birgit Freyer, but it isn't that crazy, without the coloured ribbons & tassels. For a half day that's quite a lot I think...

Außerdem hab ich heut im Rahmen vom Wäschewaschen meine Handwäsche mit erledigt und natürlich ein paar Teile auf meine Puzzlematten gepinnt. Da ist das süße lila Deckchen, dass sich normalerweise auf meinem Nachttisch präsentiert, der Probelappen der MiaBella, den ich aus einem Rest Mohair Fein (das Garn, das ich für die LadyJane verwendet habe) gestrickt habe, mein kleiner Krawattenschal nach einer Anleitung von Alison Hansel (in ihrem Buch 'Charmed Knits' ist er allerdings kraus rechts gestrickt) und zu guter Letzt MissCrazy von Birgit Freyer, die gar nicht so crazy daherkommt, noch ohne die geplanten bunten Bändchen und Troddeln. Ich glaube, das ist enorm viel für einen halben Tag...

Tomorrow I'll make the cords for MissCrazy, which I actually made for my sister and concentrate on Thieny's Sneakers. With similar effort as with the last projects I should get them done pretty soon.

Morgen kordel ich die Bändchen für MissCrazy, die ich ja meiner Schwester gestrickt habe und konzentriere mich auf Thieny's Sneakers. Mit ähnlichem Fleiß, wie bei den letzten Projekten kriege ich auch die dann fertig.

Well, with some luck, tommorrow I'll get just in time for the next Clue for MiaBella my yarn.

Na ja, und mit etwas Glück, ist morgen pünktlich zum zweiten Hinweis auf MiaBella auch mein Garn da.

UFO's

Ich habe ja schon festgestellt, dass ich eindeutig zu viele UFO's rumliegen habe... Heute hab ich es geschafft diese in eine Reihenfolge zu bringen, die recht vernünftig scheint. Die 5 wichtigsten UFO's im Augenblick sind:

1. Thieny's Sportunterricht Sneakers
2. MiLa's Teddybär
3. Mama's Icelandic Lace Shawl
4. mein Revontuli
5. und die *MiaBella* der neue KAL bei Knitting-Delight

Thieny's Sneaker habe ich heute früh aufgeribbelt, weil mir die Ferse irgendwie gar nicht gefallen wollte, und gleich neu angefangen. So gegen Mittag hab ich mal ganz schnell eine meiner Hosen gekürzt, weil ich einen guten Eindruck bei Thien's Klassenlehrerin zum Elternsprechtag machen wollte. Dann hab ich Thien gleich von der Schule mit nach Hause genommen - wo ich gleich mal die Hausaufgaben überwacht und das Mittagessen gekocht habe. Später ist Thien dann rausgegangen und ich hatte die Qual der Wahl welches Projekt ich weiterbearbeite - eindeutig zu viele Baustellen! Ich hatte mich bei dem schönen Wetter auf dem Balkon breit gemacht und an Mama's Icelandic Lace Shawl weitergestrickt. Ich habe natürlich idealerweise den Hauptteil des Tuches fertiggestrickt. Sieht doch schon sehr hübsch aus, oder? Fehlt bei diesem nur noch die Spitze. Und dafür habe ich auch schon das 150er Seil eingezogen.

I already mentioned I have way too many UFO's lying around... Today I managed to bring them to a good order. The 5 most important ones actually are:

Thieny's Sneakers I ripped out, because I didn't like how the heel turned out and started immediately new. Around Lunch I just cutted my pants to give some good impression at the meeting with Thien's class teacher. Right after that I took Thien to home and had the great job to watch over his homework while cooking lunch. When Thien went outside I decided to spend some time knitting wondering which project to work on first - I really have too many projects! With the sunny wheather outside I went on the balcony and worked on mom's shawl. Of course I finished the main part of it. Looks pretty nice yet, isn't it? Next thing on this shawl is the Lace and I already attached the 150 cm cable on it.

Mein Revontuli ist heute auch schon um ein paar Reihen gewachsen. Nach der 45. Reihe habe ich aber schon wieder aufgehört. Für Revontuli sieht mein Plan jeden Tag ein paar Reihen vor - dann schaff ich's auch bald.

My Revontuli also today grew some rows. But after the 45th row I stopped. My Plan is to knit every day a few rows - then I'll be done with it soon, too.

Und jetzt werd ich einfach noch ein bischen fernsehen und dabei die Sneakers weiterstricken. Ich will Thien ja nicht zu lange warten lassen.

And now I just watch a bit tv while knitting the sneakers. I don't want Thien to wait too long for them.

Beautifying the Balcony

Yup, this is my balcony - seen from the living room. And today was the day of the beautifying. That was actually very nessessary, coz this week some guy with a lawnmower came and spread the fresh cutted gras and parsley and cilantro, which were growing in front of the balcony, as a jigsaw on my balcony. The idiot - sorry to say so, but it's actually true - traipsed like blind over the lawn and though he was looking at my herbals (they have grown this year soooo good) he just cutted them, too - he probably can't distinguish between weeds, gras and herbals. That seems to be the disadvantage on living at ground floor level.

Yup, das ist mein Balkon - vom Wohnzimmer aus gesehen. Und heute war der Tag der Verschönerung. Das war auch bitter nötig, weil diese Woche sogenannte 'Rasenpfleger' da waren und sowohl das frisch geköpfte Gras als auch die Petersilie und den Koriander, die draußen wuchsen, als Puzzle in den Balkon geblasen wurden. Der Idiot - sorry, für die Ausdrucksweise, aber anders kann ich's einfach nicht sagen - ist wie blind über den Rasen und meine Kräuter gelatscht und hat, obwohl er sogar hingeguckt hat, eiskalt meine Kräuter, die dieses Jahr wirklich klasse gesprossen sind, abrasiert - kann vermutlich nicht Unkraut, Gras und Küchen-kräuter auseinanderhalten. Das ist halt der Nachteil am parterre wohnen.

Thien and Kenan were digging in front of the balcony and now it's almost looking as if you can seed anything there. As a reward I gave them flower seeds which they sowed on their digged soil. Aren't they cute? With some luck (and a built barrier) there will uprise a nice flowerbed with sunflowers, marigolds, carnations and nigellas.

Thien und Kenan haben vor dem Balkon rumgebuddelt und nun sieht es wirklich fast so aus, als ob man da was säen kann. Zur Belohnung habe ich den beiden Blumensamen gegeben, die sie dann direkt vor dem Balkon ausgesät haben. Sind die zwei nicht goldig? Mit etwas Glück (und einer gebastelten Absperrung) wird dort eine schöne Blumenrabatte entstehen mit Sonnenblumen, Studentenblumen, Nelken und Jungfer im Grünen.

But I emptied the balcony first, swept it, spread the green carpet and put seeds in the window boxes. To my fright I found I have no seeds for my beloved parsley, citric thyme, balm and rosemary. Therefore I'd also miss a big bucket. This year I want to have a tomato plant with a host of herbals in a bucket. So next month I'll be on a yarn diet and instead I'll buy the bucket, the tomato plant and herbals. Maybe I also buy a cucumber plant and a second bucket... but that I will think over in any case!

Ich dagegen hab den Balkon erst mal leergeräumt, gefegt, den Teppich ausgelegt und meine Blumenkästen mit Samen bestückt. Zu meinem Erschrecken habe ich kein Saatgut für meine geliebte Petersilie, Zitronenthymian, Melisse und Rosmarin mehr dagehabt. Dafür würde mir aber auch ein schön großer Blumenkübel fehlen. Dieses Jahr möchte ich mal eine Tomaten-pflanze mit Kräutern in so einem Riesenkübel haben. Also für den nächsten Monat ist Wolldiät angesagt und dafür kauf ich mir den Kübel, die Tomatenpflanze und die Kräuter. Vielleicht hol ich mir auch eine Gurkenpflanze und einen weiteren Kübel... aber das muß ich mir auf jeden Fall noch überlegen!

Bad wheather

So, yesterday we had really bad wheather - it was raining cats and dogs from morning to the late noon. Additively I had headache and rested drinking tea and water at the window to knit further on the Shawl. Bad enough to say I was knitting with lilac thread which intensified the pain a bit. But I was tenacious enough to knit on. And so I can proudly say I am out of the lilac!

Tja, gestern war ganz schlechtes Wetter - es regenete vom Morgen bis zum späten Nachmittag ununterbrochen hier. Dazu hatt ich auch noch Kopfschmerzen, sodass ich den ganzen Tag nur Tee und Wasser trinkend am Fenster gesessen habe, um am Tuch weiter zuarbeiten. Dummerweise, war ich mitten im dunklen Lila, was die Schmerzen noch etwas intensiviert hat. Aber ich bin hartnäckig, besonders, wenn ich mir was in den Kopf gesetzt habe. Und so kann ich nun stolz sagen: Ich bin aus dem Lila raus!

But with all the knitting I forgot that Monday the school holidays are over and Thien urgently needs new sport clothes - he lost his in this term 2 times! So I probably have to go out and buy him pants - the shoes I want to make self this time! Therefore I bought leather soles in the CreativShop by Junghans and Thien picked a skein of sockyarn from my socksyarnbox. Of course he chosed one in bright orange. I just hope it's enough as I made him about 4 years ago babymittens (he was extremly small that time) and short ago a baby cap for a friend in India. However, so I just knit sneaker socks and sew the soles on them...

Aber bei all dem Stricken, habe ich vergessen, dass Montag ja die Schule wieder losgeht und Thien noch dringend neue Sportsachen braucht - er hat in diesem Schuljahr 2x sein Sportzeug verloren! So muss ich heute wohl nochmal raus und eine Sporthose kaufen - die Schuhe mache ich dieses Mal selbst! Dafür habe ich die Ledersohlen für die Hüttenschuhe im CreativShop von Junghans gekauft und Thien durfte sich aus meiner Sockenwollekiste ein Knäuel aussuchen. Natürlich hat er sich ein gutes Garn in leuchtendem Orange mit Ringeln ausgesucht. Jetzt hoffe ich nur, dass es reicht, da ich bereits vor ca. 4 Jahren ein paar 'Babyhandschuhe' für ihn daraus gestrickt habe (er war damals extrem klein) und vor kurzem noch eine Babymütze für eine Freundin in Indien. Na, dann mach ich eben Sneakersocks und nähe die Sohlen da an...

At the end there is just to mention, that I was persuaded to take Thien to McDonalds - we had yummy ice cream... But only because I didn't feel well and couldn't emerge any ambitions to cook.

Zum guten Schluß bleibt nur noch zu erwähnen, dass ich mich breitschlagen lassen hab und mit Thien zu McDonalds gefahren bin - wir haben leckeres Eis geschlabbert... Aber nur, weil's mir gestern nicht so gut ging und ich keinerlei Ambitionen zum Kochen entwickeln konnte.

Temptations

Why?!? Why I am soooo much tempted to knit big projects actually? Today Birgit, the owner of the Group Knitting-Delight, published the first Clue of her new KAL *MiaBella*. Of course I already downloaded the files, but since I don't have my yarn yet and still some UFO's in progress I can't start. Some of the group already finished Clue 1 and published it in their blogs!

Warum?!? Warum werde ich neuerdings nur mit großen Strickprojekten in Versuchung geführt? Heute hat Birgit, die Leiterin der Gruppe Knitting-Delight, den ersten Hinweis des neuen Mystery *MiaBella* veröffentlicht. Die Dateien habe ich natürlich heruntergeladen, aber stricken kann ich das Tuch noch gar nicht. Ich habe nämlich mein Garn noch nicht hier und auch immer noch das eine und das andere UFO zu beenden. Einige aus der Gruppe haben Clue 1 sogar schon fertig gestrickt und in ihren Blogs veröffentlicht!

Today in the morning I decided not to have too many UFO's and so I resist until I finished at least the Icelandic Lace Shawl. I already work on the middle part, an easy but beautiful pattern. But u have to watch ur stitches! So tomorrow I just knit & knit & knit apart from preparing 3 meals, I guess.

Heute früh habe ich festgestellt, dass ich noch zu viele UFO's rumliegen habe, und deshalb werde ich der Versuchung wiederstehen und mindestens das Tuch Icelandic Lace Shawl beenden. Ich bin schon am mittleren Teil des Tuches, ein einfaches wie schönes Muster. Allerdings muss man höllisch aufpassen, dass einem keine Maschen entschwinden! Der Plan für morgen sieht ausser stricken & stricken & stricken nur 3 zuzubereitende Mahlzeiten vor.

I also managed to make some notes about Kitty 2.0 (the cute Kitty-Doll I made for Betül last year). I still remember pretty much the way I made it and after making the notes I returned it to Betül this afternoon. Of course I hade the great idea to make some for my sister's shop, but... I still have to finish enough hibernating projects - there is the sunflower picture, a doily, the bolero, the two shawls in progress, 2 tablecloths to embroider... I probably lost track of all my projects - time to get the shelfs!

Ich hab's heute aber auch noch geschafft, mir aufzuschreiben, wie ich Kitty 2.0 (die süße Katze, die ich letztes Jahr für Betül gestrickt habe) konkret gearbeitet habe. Und jetzt weiß ich auch wieder ganz genau, woher ich die Idee hatte und habe sie Betül am Nachmittag zurückgegeben. Klar hatte ich dann auch noch die geniale Idee, für den Shop meiner Schwester ein paar zu machen, aber... ich hab einfach noch genügend andere Projekte, die auf Vervollständigung warten - das Sonnenblumenbild, ein Häkeldeckchen, den Ärmelschal, die zwei Tücher, 2 Stickdecken.. mir fehlt irgendwie der Überblick - es wird eindeutig Zeit, mir die Regale zu besorgen...

Progresses

I already mentioned I'd make my mother the Icelandic Lace Shawl out of the beautifully Kauni yarn. So I started few days back and already finished with 3 Charts. I think I should order a third ball of the yarn very soon to finish her shawl by the end of this month.

Ich hab ja schon erwähnt, dass ich das Icelandic Lace Shawl Tuch von der Kauni stricken werde. Damit hab ich nun vor ein paar Tagen angefangen und schon 3 Strickschriften (von 6) abgestrickt. Demnächst werde ich noch ein drittes Knäuel dazubestellen, damit ich das Tuch trotzdem bis zum Ende des Monats fertigstricken kann.

My Revontuli is still waiting for Anja to finish her Pearled Romance Shawl and get done with the first 25 rows of her Revontuli for which she has choosen a Kauni yarn. Until then I want to finish at least the Teddy bear I promised my friend MiLa and work on mom's shawl. Mom, by the way, was very pleased to hear I am making her a shawl out of the pretty expensive Kauni yarn.

Mein Revontuli dagegen wartet immer noch auf Anja, die ja noch an ihrer Pearled Romance strickt und danach auch noch die 25 Reihen (die ich ja einfach schon stricken mußte) mit ihrem ebenso schönen Kaunigarn nachholen muß. Naja, bis dahin häkel ich lieber noch den Teddy, den ich MiLa versprochen hab, fertig und stricke Mama's Tuch weiter. Mama war übrigens begeistert von der Idee ein Tuch aus dem doch relativ teuren Kaunigarn zu bekommen.

Today I try to get the Kitty I made for my neighbours daughter to note how I knitted it - I was asked to make more and can't remember properly how I formed the head and how exactly I knitted the dress. Here's a picture of the Kitty 2.0:

Heute werd ich noch zu meiner Nachbarin rübergehn, weil ich die Kitty, die ich ihrer Tochter letztes Jahr gestrickt hab, brauche. Ich hab leider versäumt, mir aufzuschreiben, wie ich den Kopf und das Kleid gestrickt habe. Aber hier ist schon mal ein Bild von Kitty 2.0:

On Sunday I went to my turkish neighbour Yadigar for a tea and showed her some of my recent knitted works and inspired her on that way to start knitting again after many years. So she is the second one in my neighbourhood I managed to make knit. The first was Gülhane who asked me how to knit socks. I guess I can convince my other turkish neighbours to learn to knit, too.

Sonntag habe ich mich von meiner türkischen Nachbarin Yadigar zum Tee einladen lassen und habe ihr dann ein paar meiner fertigen Strickereien gezeigt und sie somit zum erneuten Stricken nach vielen Jahren gebracht. Damit ist sie bereits die zweite Nachbarin, die ich zum Stricken zurückgebracht habe. Die erste ist Gülhane, die mich gefragt hat, wie man Socken strickt. Vielleicht, kann ich ja noch mehr meiner türkischen Nachbarinnen zum Stricken inspirieren.

Also on Sunday we made our first Easter Egg Hunt out in the Gardens with almost all neighbourkids - they loved it though most of them don't celebrate Easter and so I probably have to make more Easter baskets, more coloured eggs and more biscuits next year.

Natürlich haben wir Sonntag auch unsere erste Ostereiersuche mit fast allen Nachbarskindern draußen veranstaltet - die fanden es wundervoll, obwohl viele gar kein Ostern feiern. Vermutlich muß ich nächstes Jahr mehr Körbchen basteln, mehr Eier färben und mehr Kekse backen.

I thought of making a shawl for my mother out of this beautiful yarn. The pattern I wanted to knit is the Icelandic Lace Shawl by Sigrídur Halldórsdóttir. I think it will be a lil bigger than the pattern says, but my mother is a lil bigger than me.

Ich werde davon ein Tuch für meine Mutter stricken. Mir kam gleich das Icelandic Lace Shawl von Sigrídur Halldórsdóttir in den Sinn. Vermutlich wird das Tuch etwas größer als in der Anleitung angegeben, aber meine Mutter ist auch ein wenig breiter als ich.

Anja and I were on pearls mission today. She is very fond of the idea to knit herself the Pretty as a Peacock Shawl with matching pearls in it. I myself thought of making it plain white maybe with a silk blended yarn - without pearls. Before I came to Aachen, best I could do was dream of these wonderful shawls and yarns as in hick towns - no matter which - u wont get any of these easily, unfortunately.

Außerdem waren Anja und ich heut auf Perlenmission. Sie hat sich überlegt, den Pretty as a Peacock Shawl zu stricken und will es natürlich mit passenden Perlen bestricken. Ich hingegen habe mir überlegt, ebendieses Tuch aus einem glänzenden weißen Garn zu stricken, vielleicht ein Garn mit Seidenanteil - ganz ohne Perlen. Bevor ich nach Aachen kam, konnte ich von all solchen tollen Tüchern und Garnen nur träumen, in der Provinz - egal welche - kriegt man sowas nur unter großem Aufwand, leider.

Ohh, and yes, I finished another project today. An easy to knit lace scarf for my sister. The pattern is MissCrazy by Birgit Freyer. I used a multicolour yarn with mint as the basic colour - a lil more than 50 g - and bought today 5 skeins of yarn each only 10 m long in yellow, orange, red, blue & purple to weave them into the peekaboo stripes of the scarf.

Ach ja, ich hab ein weiteres Projekt beendet. Ein sehr leicht zu strickender Schal für meine Schwester. Das Muster heißt MissCrazy von Birgit Freyer. Dafür habe ich ein Multicolourgarn mit der Basisfarbe Mint verstrickt - knapp über 50 g - und hab für die Lochmusterstreifen 5 Miniknäule mit einer Lauflänge von 10 m in sonnengelb, orange, rot, blau und lila zum durchziehen gekauft.

Tommorrow I'll start crocheting the Teddy bear for my friend MiLa. Yarn I already bought yesterday, but today I came across a package of 6 cute bells. I bought it immediately and one of the bells I'll sew on the Teddy bear's tie.

Morgen werde ich mit dem Häkelteddy für MiLa anfangen. Das Garn habe ich bereits gestern gekauft, aber heute hab ich beim Shoppen noch eine Packung mit 6 Glöckchen entdeckt, die ich natürlich eingekauft habe. Eines der Glöckchen werde ich and die Schleife des Teddy's nähen.

KnitPicks

Today I bought a set of KnitPicks. I thought complaining about plastic needles is not nessessary, but when I tried knitting some rows of the Revontuli I found the stitches slipping so darn fast from it that I wanted to buy the KnitPicks asap. Lucky me I got some extra money this month.
I already slipped the stitches of Revontuli to a KnitPicks and changed from metal needles to KnitPicks for the shawl I'm actually working on. Knitting the first few rows with them felt soooo good - now I know what I missed! I decided never to knit with other needles then them or my beloved bamboo needles.

Heute hab ich mir das KnitPicks-Set gekauft. Irgendwie fand ich's immer idiotisch mich über die ollen Plaste-/Metallnadeln zu beschweren, aber als ich meinen Revontuli angefangen hab, war's echt genug, weil die Maschen ständig abzurutschen drohten. Da hab ich beschlossen mir das Set schnellstmöglich zu kaufen. Glücklicherweise hab ich diesen Monat ein bischen Extra-Geld bekommen.
Natürlich hab ich die Maschen vom Revontuli sofort auf die KnitPicks umgehängt und auch das Tuch, an dem ich grad stricke, auf KnitPicks draufgestrickt. Ich hatte ja keine Ahnung, was mir da entgangen ist, bis ich die ersten Reihen gestrickt hatte. Na, und da hab ich halt beschlossen, daß ich nie wieder andere Nadeln als diese oder meine geliebten Bambusnadeln verwenden werde.

20 yellow (miniature) crowns

This wasn't a big project at all, but making a whole bunch of these feels a lil annoying - after the 5th piece, so it took me 2 weeks to finish them. But here are the 20 crowns my sister wants to make brooches from for her shop:

She also dared to order many, many, many crocheted flowers for her self sewed garments to give her stuff a very individual look. She literally said, my crocheted flowers would give her label a face. Sounds good, huh?

Next projects to work on (hard & fast) are the shawl for my sister and the crocheted teddy bear a friend has ordered from me.

Umm, one confession I have to make - I started my first revontuli already :D but I did behave and didn't knit more than the first 25 (pretty short rows). I was almost never as impatient as this time.

New Socks for the Kid

Today I finished Thien's first pair of socks and I really don't get why I never knitted him some much earlier!

Aren't these lovely? Thien himself loves them, wears them right now but wanted to conserve them - he actually didn't want to wear them outside.

Now I'm working on the miniature crowns for the brooches for my sister's shop. Am almost done with them. So I'm probably going on with the b'day shawl for my sister - today is her b'day, but since she stayed almost a week with me recently I couldn't go on knitting it :( and now I have to hurry to finish and post it.

Finished my Mysterious Lady

I know, my picture is not the best - I actually don't have a real camera and just tried it with my mobile phone using its self-timer.
I finished the Lady already 2 weeks ago, showed it off, before blocking it, to my mother & sister who came to visit the h & h in cologne. The h & h was very interesting - my sis managed to get me a card - I visited first of all the hand spinning guild where I got some spinning lessons on the drop spindle and the spinning wheel as well. I also visited the Ashford stand where I tried two of their wheels out and my son learned to card the wool (which he really liked a lot)

Now I'm working on Thien's housesocks, a shawl for my sister, a crocheted teddy bear for a friend ...
Very soon my friend Anja and I will start knitting our first Revontulis as our personal knitalong.

so that's all for now - have to finish the house socks and the swatch to the new mystery at Knitting-Delight.
